God Gives You the Ability to Produce Wealth

“But remember the LORD your God, for it is He who gives you the ability to produce wealth, and so confirms His covenant.” – Deuteronomy 8:18

This verse does something remarkable. It connects wealth-building directly to covenant relationship with God. Producing wealth is not a worldly distraction. It is a confirmation of the covenant. God gives the ability to build. And He expects that ability to be used with intention.

The Permission to Build

There is a persistent idea in some communities that financial ambition and faith are in conflict. That wanting to build wealth somehow contradicts spiritual values. Deuteronomy 8:18 dismantles that idea completely.

God gave you the ability to earn. To build. To produce. Not as a test of whether you will become worldly. As a confirmation of His covenant with you. The ability to produce wealth is a gift. Using it wisely is obedience. Protecting what it creates is stewardship.

Protecting What the Covenant Produces

If God gives the ability to produce wealth, then protecting that wealth from being erased in a single event is a stewardship responsibility. A death without coverage erases everything the family built. A disability without income protection drains savings in months. A retirement without a guaranteed income layer puts decades of work at the mercy of market timing.

Life insurance protects covenant wealth. It ensures that what God gave you the ability to build does not disappear when the builder is gone. That is not a financial transaction. That is stewardship of the gift.

Covenant Wealth for Generations

Proverbs 13:22 says a good person leaves an inheritance for their children’s children. Deuteronomy 8:18 says God gives the ability to produce that inheritance. The two verses work together. One describes the obligation. The other describes the source.

When a family builds a whole life policy, the cash value grows during the policyholder’s lifetime and the death benefit transfers to the next generation tax-efficiently. That is the wealth of Deuteronomy 8:18 being passed through the inheritance of Proverbs 13:22. Covenant on covenant. Generation through generation.

Remember the Source

The verse begins with “remember.” Do not forget where the ability came from. Build with gratitude. Protect with intention. Pass it forward with purpose. The wealth you build is not just yours. It is covenant wealth. And it deserves covenant protection.

God gave you the ability. The question is what you do with it – and whether you protect what it produces for the generations that follow.
