How do Life Insurance agents get paid?

Life Insurance agents earn commission from the insurance carrier, not from the client. When a family purchases a policy, the carrier pays the agent a percentage of the premium. Commission rates vary by product type and carrier. As an independent ZOE Agency agent, you also have the potential to build residual income through renewals and to develop a team if you choose to recruit and mentor other agents.

What is the difference between a captive and independent agent?

A captive agent works for one insurance company and can only sell that company’s products. An independent agent (like every ZOE Agency agent) is contracted with multiple carriers and can shop the market for the best fit. This means you are never in a position where you have to recommend a product because it is the only one you carry. You recommend the product that actually fits the family’s needs.
